Sharing Concert Musicians With Students
The South Haven Performance Series concert appearance by the Bayberry String Quartet on September 18 included an educational component. The Quartet presented a musical conversation with South Haven middle school and high school orchestra students prior to their evening concert.
The collaboration marked an important new mission for the South Haven Performance Series by bringing renowned musicians into the public schools to open doors of understanding and inspiration with local students.
The opportunity was coordinated by Jessica Fiedorowocz, Director of Orchestras and Chair of the Music Department with the South Haven Public Schools and a member of the Performance Series Board of Directors.
“As a teacher in a small-town school district, it is challenging to access opportunities for students,” Fiedorowicz said. “The Bayberry String Quartet was able to inspire the next generation of music lovers and creators.”
The educational component was made possible by designated contributions to the Performance Series.
The students and their families were guests at the Quartet’s evening concert.
Founded in 2010, the South Haven Performance Series is an all-volunteer community based organization dedicated to providing a rich mixture of professional music and the performing arts for residents and visitors of South Haven The Series has made a positive impact on the cultural fabric of the South Haven community.
